Uruguay has signed bilateral free trade agreements with Mexico and Chile. Negotiations to sign a
free trade agreement with China were announced during 2018; however, no further details or
developments were reported.
Uruguay has also signed trade agreements through the MERCOSUR framework with Bolivia, Chile,
Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, India, Israel, Mexico, Palestine, Peru, Southern African Customs
Union (SACU) and Venezuela. There are ongoing negotiations, recently relaunched, between the
European Union and MERCOSUR to conclude a free trade agreement.
