Economic and Trade Agreements

India has concluded trade agreements with a number of countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Japan, Nepal, Singapore, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

On a multilateral level, India is a signatory to the BIMSTEC Free Trade Area Framework Agreement, the MERCOSUR Preferential Trade Agreement and the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement. India is also a partner of the negotiations on the multilateral South Asia Free Trade Agreement (SAFTA), an offshoot of SAARC (comprising the South Asian nations).

Negotiations on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (ASEAN members, Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea (Rep.) and New Zealand) commenced in November 2012.
